Assignments, Activities and Exercises
- Discussion
Topics from the Text
- The text includes various discussion points sidebars called "Myth
or Science" and "Point: Counterpoint." We will discuss
several of these topics in class. You should read the item and think of
good reasons to support your own position on the issue. No written
material is required, but students should be prepared to participate in
the class discussion on these points. The assigned items are listed in the
class schedule.
- Examples of
Concepts in Organizational Behavior
- Throughout the course, I'll have you bring in examples from your work
that demonstrate some of the key concepts we cover in class. I'll give you
some questions to answer about each set of examples. We'll discuss them in class to bring up key points about
using these concepts effectively on the job.
- Exercises from the
Self-Assessment Library
- Along with your text, I'll give you a copy of the Prentice Hall
Self-Assessment Library on CD-ROM. It contains several instruments you can
take to evaluate yourself relative to several key concepts discussed in
the text. You should complete the assigned assessments each week and bring
a print-out of the results to class to discuss what you discovered.
- Research Paper
- The capstone project for this course is a research paper targeted toward
solving a problem facing an organization you choose. You should begin to
narrow your choice of subjects at the start of the class. Talk
to me if you have any questions.
